  • All participants must meet at the Yacht Club on Saturday morning.  The Yacht Club is on the seafront, just across the level train crossing from the village square.

  • Ceri's workshop is open to all instruments and will focus on learning tunes from Welsh traditions. The emphasis will be on melody and will cover a broad range of dance-tune types. Ceri will be teaching a neglected repertoire by ear, so the ability to pick up a tune by ear is the minimum requirement. 
Traditional Welsh Folk Song - Julie Murphy
  • Julie's workshop will consist of learning songs from the Welsh folk song tradition (rather than choral tradition). She will explore folk songs in both Welsh and English, and learning will be by ear as a group. The workshop is open to all and no experience of the Welsh language is necessary.

  • The lecture will explore the life and music of the late Willie Clancy, whom Peter knew well.  It will include listening to private home recordings of Clancy that are not publicly available

  • Jason will explore the opportunities and risks of buying pipes on the second hand markets, and give advice on avoiding the pitfalls.

Gala Concert: 7:00-9:00pm (doors 6:30pm)

  • The Gala Concert is always the highlight of the Festival. This year we again present performances by some of the finest traditional musicians in Ireland and Wales. All of our guest performers will take the stage, and there's always the possibility of surprise musicians appearing as well. Doors will open at 6:30 and the concert will start at 7pm so don't be late!
Concert tickets are available at the door for £10/£8.  Admission is included for those registering for the full weekend package.

Morning Beach Walk: 9:30am

  • Optional group walk for the early risers (TBC depending on tides and weather). Meet at the River Towy Yacht Club, Ferryside, SA17 5SF. 

Gentle Session: 9:30am

  • A slower paced session for those who fancy a few gentler tunes to start the day. At the River Towy Yacht Club, Ferryside, SA17 5SF. 

Festival Lecture: The history of traditional music on radio in Ireland: 11:00am-12:00pm

Piper's Chair: 12noon

  • The Piper's Chair is an informal recital in which pipers and other traditional musicians have the opportunity to get up and play a tune for an audience. It gives players of all levels a chance to share their music before a supportive and appreciative crowd. Participation is strictly voluntary! The Piper's Chair is a free public event, so anyone who would like to come and watch is very welcome. We will also be providing a light lunch.
